We have a simple, but robust mission: to help girls in need. We do that by providing girls with menstrual care kits, focusing on community-based efforts including education, awareness, and health initiatives. We can make a difference.
Whether it's sewing cloth pads, purchasing ready made components for the kits, or helping to raise awareness and funds, we need people like you to help make it possible to provide kits for girls in need.
Hi my name is Kathleen, I was born in Zambia but currently live in South Africa. The first time I heard about cloth pads was from my sister in law Leslie after she was diagnosed with cervical dysplasia. The name comes from the fact that all our children’s names start with M and the group is to support girls so we came up with the name MIGHTY Girls. I have a very big passion for the girl child as I am a girl child. We decided to start a program for girls in need of menstrual care and personal hygiene products. So many girls feel ashamed and uncomfortable about their periods and we want to help change that. Leslie has really opened my eyes about the number of girls that miss school because of this problem. Please help us in this venture to provide Mighty Girl Kits to girls who need them most!
We're continually working hard to improve communities throughout South Africa. If you're interested to see what we've been doing recently, check out our project list.
Hi, my name is Leslie and I am from Colorado. I came across cloth pads after being diagnosed with cervical dysplasia. While this diagnosis was scary, I knew that my health was now more important than ever. I began looking for an alternative to disposable pads and came across a whole new world of reusable menstrual care. As I started making reusable pads and realizing what a joy it was to get to use them, I decided I wanted to spread that joy to girls who need it most! While researching more about cloth pads, I learned that girls and women in rural areas in South Africa are struggling with their monthly periods. I couldn't believe how big of a problem it was and I really wanted to help. Mighty Girls was born to support girls in need, and help them to break through barriers. I look forward to partnering with you to help meet the needs of these girls.
